Cut off for MBBS Admission In India

The NEET 2023 cutoff, released by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on June 13, 2023, alongside the exam results, marked the minimum qualifying marks required for admission. Candidates who scored at or above this cutoff became eligible to participate in both national and state-level counselling rounds. Compared to 2022, the cutoff saw a rise—mainly due to a larger number of test-takers and a relatively easier exam paper, as noted by experts.

While NEET cutoff scores change each year, the qualifying percentile set by the NTA remains fixed. For NEET 2023, admission cutoffs for various medical colleges and courses were released by national and state counselling authorities after each counselling round. To understand the cutoff trends, candidates can look at the lowest NEET score or rank that secured an MBBS seat. The final consolidated cutoff for NEET 2023 was announced after all rounds of counselling were completed. Generally, government medical colleges have higher cutoffs compared to private or other medical institutions.

This page offers a detailed overview of NEET cutoff scores and qualifying percentiles. The NEET 2023 exam was held on May 7 and a re-exam on June 6, with expert reviews pointing to a relatively easier paper. Out of 20,38,596 test-takers, 11,45,976 candidates qualified, as per official statistics. NEET cutoff marks differ for reserved and unreserved categories. While the National Testing Agency (NTA) sets the initial cutoff, the Medical Council of India can revise it depending on the availability of medical seats.
